Recently there has been some club /coffee discussion about whether Bow River Woods, at Chilliwack, B.C. is still in business, at theirFairfield Park downtown retail location The answer to that question is no. But they still run the mill site.
Sales at their retail location were brisk, during the early stages of Covid, when people were locked down at home. However sales slumped once people felt the freedom to return to their normal
schedules.
A decision was made to close the retail store, and sell the website rights to an employee, who created a new business called “Cascadia Woodcraft & Lutherie Supply”, on Vancouver island.
When you google search Bow River Woods, you will likely be taken to the Cascadia website.
Bow River Woods continues to operate as a mill, focussed more on wholesale sales, but with a retail area at:
46501 Ballam Rd,
Chilliwack, BC V2P 6H5
(604) 795-3462.
They operate Monday to Friday, and are open to the public. The owner I spoke to said they have an employee who works the retail area Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. They will serve you other days, but those days staff are focused more on milling work.
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday you are likely to get more attentive service in the retail area.
They have various wood species, but as always their bowl blanks have mainly been Big Leaf Maple. Their wholesale market has mainly been in the 10 to 11 inch diameter market, but they are again starting to mill some larger diameter blanks.
