Thirty two members came out to celebrate the Christmas season and partake in the consumption of hot chocolate and treats that could induce diabetes!
Jim Beebe opened the meeting and welcomed everyone and wished them a safe and happy Christmas Season.
Bernard Nagel gave us the run down on the setup of our tree entry at the Annual Festival of Trees held at the WDM. If you haven’t seen it already, you should check out the blog posted earlier by the purchaser of the tree. It’s very inspiring to hear how our work has changed people’s lives. Over 250 ornaments were on the tree which sold for $700.
The Wood Show
Dave Lennox and Mark Noete talked about The Saskatoon Collectors Show held March 13-14, 2026 at Prairieland Park.
We have a 1000 sq’ area for exhibiting our turnings in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Woodworkers Guild.

Our Turning Tutors
After many many classes Mel Genge is stepping down from leading our Turning Tutors at Walter Murray Collegiate Institute.
Last semester 60 grade 10 students spent an hour with each of our Hub City Tutors.
Robin Reynolds has volunteered to take over the management of the Tutoring Team.
Craig and Chad, the shop teachers, are very thankful for the work this group has done.
Thank You to the team for making us all look great, and Thank You Mel for the years of leading this group and Robin for taking over the leadership role.
Possibility of a Mini Symposium
Mark Noete has been in contact with Derek Weidman and Heather Marusiak about holding a mini-symposium August 11th and 12th. in the shop at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon. Trent Watts moved that HCT support this by paying for the facility and the demonstrator costs. The motion was carried. Stay tuned for more information.
Shell Lake Summer Retreat
Lastly, our Shell Lake retreat is scheduled for August 13-16, 2026.Next year is looking very exciting indeed.
