40+ Members and one new visitor came by for our last structured meeting of the 2025-2026 HCT year.

Tonight Jim Beebe called the meeting to order at 7pm. At this time Jim informed the group that his two year term as President of the Hub City Turners had come to the end.

Elections were held later in the meeting. A new executive list can be found under the "Join Us" menu located at the top of the page...coming soon!

Mark Noete discussed the Mini-Symposium happening August 8th and 9th at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon. Discussion was held regarding the pricing for the group and motions were made, amended and a concensus was reached and voted on.

The featured turners are Derek Weidman and Heather Marusiak, a new generation of turners with incredible skill and creativity. Check under the "Events" menu located above for more detail (coming soon).

Brian Stomp brought a huge box of fir blanks free for the taking...Thank you Brian!

Featured Demonstration

Tonight Deb McLeod travelled from Ruthilda Saskatchewan to give a short lecture on how to use a colour wheel to determine complimentary, split complementary, and Triadic colours when designing your embellishments.

In addition to using mixed media such as acrylics oils, and other paint types, she discussed how to match wood types to create a pleasing coordination of colour in your turning projects.

A quick search shows that the colour wheel can be purchased locally at Michaels and the University of Saskatchewan Book Store. They are also available to purchase in a 3 size package from Amazon.

Thank You Duncan

After over a decade as treasurer of Hub City Turners, Duncan Birch is resigning from the position following our Shell Lake Retreat.

Duncan took this executive position in 2016 and has done a fabulous job taking care of membership fees, a very successful symposium, paying the bills, and of course manning our monthly draws at his classic position in our meeting area, where he can supervise all our shenanigans.

Once again, our sincere thanks to Duncan for his excellent service to our club.

Elections

Nominations and voting was held to elect the positions of President, Vice President, and Treasurer. Vic Schapansky was elected President, Mark Noete: Vice President and Randy Sawchyn will take over the duties of Treasurer. Peter Downing will continue to be the secretary and webmaster. A full list of the Executive and Program Committee should be forthcoming in the near future under the "Join Us" menu item.
