Do yourself a favour and ‘run don’t walk’ down to Market Mall. Rick Houjet has a show at the Gallery on the Greens. I had the pleasure of walking through the exhibit today on my way to Jim Beebe’s Sale. Just a heads up if you go, it is easier to see the show from the Giant Tiger/LifeLabs/Denture Clinic entrance at the North East corner of the Mall. Construction at the Mall has moved the Gallery to this area.
Rick has combined his skills of pyrography and dyeing to produce some unique works for this show. My favourite one incorporates the natural beauty in the wood grain as part of the sky in the Northern Boreal Forest at sunset.
You will see a range of talents as you wander through the gallery. Brilliant dyes combined with the flower motifs on the turned platters and bowls really set off some of the items.
