Vic Schapansky has been busy in his shop and sent in some pictures of his recent work.
I finally got back in the shop and finished a few things. This is a flowering crab that I cut down in the yard. Finished with Tung oil and two coats of wipe on poly. It has a purple and pink tone in the grain.
I had this sitting on the workbench for 6 months. It was very soft and tearout was bad but with sanding and sanding it turned out nice.
It is 8 inches wide and 4 inches deep.
I had some ash from a neighbour’s tree. The base is solid ash then ash with a cherry ring. Then another layer of ash. It turned out better than originally planned. I made the cherry ring but didn’t get it lined up like it should have been so the joins aren’t offset correctly. 10 inches by 4 deep. Tung oil and wipe on poly for a finish.
