Hot on the heels of a busy week with a well attended monthly meeting and members of HCT interacting with high school students at Walter Murray Collegiate we shift gears a bit. Two of our members have achieved important milestones and one has sent in pictures of his latest work.
Jim Beebe’s wife sent this note in so we can celebrate with Jim on his years of playing bag pipes.
This award was given to Jim at the armouries after the Remembrance Day service on Nov 11. They preformed there for the regiment (a tradition) and he was presented this plaque. The medallion was given by the commander of the battalion, a medal of excellence.
A very emotional but wonderful day for Jim.
CONGRATULATIONS JIM. A WELL DESERVED AWARD.
Jim has entertained HCT members at some of our outdoor meetings. You can check it out below.
Elio Menis has perfected his woodworking and metalworking skills to a level very few people could accomplish in even one of those media. He has just finished creating a dining room table made out of White Oak for his grandson. Elio did extensive research and made a number of mock up samples to perfect the joinery and the final look that he wanted for this project. His use of the Festool Domino to add accuracy and strength to the edge joints helped to create the heirloom quality of the table. Elio used a few coats of various stains and finishes to bring out the beauty of this quartersawn oak.
Lucky grandson and family and congratulations Elio on finishing this wonderful project.
Rich Hounjet has created some beautiful Christmas ornaments using colourful dying, pyrogrphy and detailed hand cut stencils to add interesting features that really make you want to look twice.
