Jay Scott sent in some pictures of some platters that will have a new life in Brazil. Well done Jay.
This past Saturday some friends of old stopped in to catch up and purchase some of my turning. They hadn’t seen our daughter since she was about 18 months old, her 8th birthday coming in August. Their son was married in Canada last year and they leave this Thursday for Brazil to celebrate the wedding with her family, at their home, where all will be staying. The pandemic prevented the celebration until now.
They wished to express gratitude for the hospitality by gifting the bride’s parents with a handmade, Canadian gift. They selected these two platters I made.
This green & blue platter (black on the bottom) is 250mm x 40mm (10″ x 1 3/4″).

This black rimmed platter is 285mm x 45mm (11 1/2″ x 1 7/8″). Both are sugar maple, dyed with Keda dyes, sealed with shellac, polished with Yorkshire Grit Regular and Microfine, finished with a combination of beeswax and carnauba wax.
