Bernard Nagel sent us pictures of a chess set he recently turned.
I just finished this chess set made from walnut and maple. I just free hand turned the pieces roughly following and doubling the size of the Chess set that can be purchased from Lee Valley . Some file work and belt sanding to detail the king, queen rooks and Knights Just to give some idea of size the king is about six inches tall and the pawns are about three inches tall. I have not decided if I will make just a board or maybe a small table board combo with a drawer to store the chess set.
