While helping me look through old magazines, Jen found a Salt Box project in a December 2011 Woodturning Design magazine. The box is turned out of Big Leaf Maple. I modified the hinge design by using two rare earth magnets. This allows the lid to pivot with just the touch of a finger, important if the cooks hands are full. Just make sure you check that you are expoxying in the magnets, so they attract.
